In celebration of World Nutrition Day on May 28, we’re excited to share a brand-new resource for our students: a Student Recipe Pack featuring easy, nutritious, and budget-friendly meal ideas. This resource is designed to help students not just at ENBS, but aspiring dancers everywhere, stay healthy, energised, and strong.
Nutrition for Ballet Students: Why It Matters
Nutrition is a crucial part of a ballet student’s education. A well-balanced diet:
- Boosts energy for classes, rehearsals, and performances
- Supports muscle growth and repair, essential for strength and endurance
- Helps prevent injuries by keeping bones, joints, and tissues healthy
- Enhances focus and stamina for long training days
- Promotes overall health and wellbeing, laying the foundation for a long career in dance
At ENBS, we believe in educating dancers not just about technique, but about how to care for their bodies holistically — and that starts with good food choices every day.
What’s Inside?
This specially created recipe book:
- Quick and easy breakfast ideas to start your day with energy
- Nutritious lunches and snacks to sustain you through intensive training
- Recovery-focused dinners to aid muscle repair after long rehearsals
All recipes are tailored for the needs of ballet students, providing a good balance of:
- Complex carbohydrates for long-lasting energy
- Proteins for muscle repair and recovery
- Healthy fats to support your immune system and energy reserves
- Fruits and vegetables for essential vitamins, minerals, and fibre
Whether you’re living independently for the first time or just need quick, nourishing ideas, these recipes are designed to fit easily into a busy dancer’s schedule.
A Special Collaboration
This valuable guide was developed through a partnership between Sports Nutrition Master’s students from St Mary’s University and ENBS Head of Health and Wellbeing, Juncal Roman and Nutritionist Maja Berry.
Together, they combined expert knowledge of sports nutrition with real-world insights into the demands of professional ballet training to create recipes that are easy, nutritious, and dancer-approved.
This collaboration is part of our broader commitment to ballet school nutrition support at ENBS, helping students develop healthy habits that will serve them throughout their training and professional careers.
Fuel Your Training, Fuel Your Future
Healthy eating is not just about today, it’s about setting up the foundations for a lifetime of dancing at your best.
At English National Ballet School, we are proud to support our students with resources like this to ensure they have the tools they need for success, both on and off the stage.
