Summer Intensives

 

Course 1 High Technique and Artistry
Monday 20th July – Friday 31st July 2026, there will be no classes scheduled over the middle weekend (25th & 26th July). Created by our Artistic Director, Lynne Charles, and taught by ENBS faculty and guest teachers this Summer Intensive is designed to give young aspiring dancers a taste of training at English National Ballet School.

COURSE TWO Step into the kingdoms of August Bournonville and Sir Frederick Ashton two of ballet’s most influential choreographers and styles this summer.
Monday 3rd August – Saturday 15th August 2026, there will be no classes scheduled over the middle weekend.   Week One: BournonvilleThis course offers a unique opportunity to work with world-renowned experts, developing technique, elevation, and spatial awareness.

  • Known for its speed, musicality, and intricate footwork, this style is especially beneficial for male dancers as it has produced some of the greatest male dancers gracing the stages worldwide.
  • Train with exceptional artists including Olivier and Evening Standard Award winner Peter Schaufuss, Knight of Denmark & Founder of English National ballet School and, Dinna Bjørn, a leading world authority on the female Bournonville style.
  • On the course students will be coached in the choreography & mime scenes from the legendary English National Ballet production of “La Sylphide.”

Week Two: Ashton

Our Ashton Course invites you to explore the legacy of Sir Frederick Ashton, his distinctive choreographic style, characterised by lyricism, musicality and vivid storytelling.

  • Through expert-led workshops, you’ll dive into the expressive dance language and meticulous interplay of music and character that define his ballets.
  • Work with leading Ashton specialists including Vanessa Palmer, Royal Ballet stager and répétiteur for Les Rendezvous, and Samara Downs, Principal Dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet, who will share her recent performance experience of Birthday Offering, a piece made to showcase the many different talents of a dancer providing lots to explore around interpretation and finding your own strengths as a dancer.

Course 3 Pre-Professional and Professional Ballet Intensive
Monday 20th July - Friday 31st July 2026. Between the hours of 5pm - 8pm.

Our Summer Intensive for pre-professional dancers is an immersive and transformative experience. Dancers will engage in daily ballet and technique classes, pointe work, and variations for both men and women, alongside dedicated strength, and conditioning sessions.

This program is designed to help you refine your technique, elevate your artistry, and grow as a well-rounded performer in a focused and inspiring environment.

Entry Requirements Age: 18 to 23 Level: Entry via Video. See Video Requirements.

Course Information

Fees 

• A non-refundable application fee of £30 must be paid for all applications to our Summer Intensives.
• Each Intensive Course is £1250. Payment is required after confirmation of a place on the course.

Accommodation

As the Summer Intensive Courses are non-residential, students are responsible for securing their own accommodation. For options on where students can stay in London visit Accommodation

The intensives will take place at English National Ballet School’s main premises, Carlyle Building, Hortensia Road, Chelsea, London, SW10 0QS.

Application Guidance

Who should apply?  

Placements on the Summer Intensive are open to students at RAD intermediate level of training, or equivalent. 

If accepted, students will have the opportunity to attend either one or both Intensive Courses.
