Junor Souza

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Junor Souza trained at Escola de Dança before joining English National Ballet School. He joined English National Ballet in 2008 and was promoted to First Artist in 2010, Junior Soloist in 2011, and First Soloist in 2014.

His repertoire includes Torero in Johan Inger’s Carmen; Nephew/Prince in Wayne Eagling’s Nutcracker; Albrecht in Mary Skeaping’s Giselle; Drosselmeyer in Watkin and Smith’s Nutcracker (a role created on him); Romeo in both Rudolf Nureyev’s Romeo & Juliet and Derek Deane’s in-the-round production; Siegfried in Deane’s Swan Lake; one of the Four Fates in Christopher Wheeldon’s Cinderella; and all three male lead roles in Le Corsaire — Conrad, Ali, and Lankendem. His contemporary repertoire includes works by William Forsythe, Aszure Barton, and Stina Quagebeur.
