English National Ballet School is proud to support International Youth Dancer Health Awareness Week 2026 as part of the International Youth Dancer Health Alliance (IYDHA), a collective of leading global dance training institutions committed to advancing youth dancer health and wellbeing.
This year’s focus, Mobility and Flexibility in Youth Dancers, explores evidence-informed approaches to mobility training, injury prevention and dancer wellbeing, helping students, educators and families better understand the physical demands placed on young dancers.
As part of this international collaboration, ENBS students have access to a series of professional development resources featuring world-renowned speakers and specialists in dancer health.
Topics include:
• Strength & Stability: Improving turnout and splits through functional mechanics
• Hypermobility: Best practices for student safety and injury prevention
• Elite Perspectives: A featured session with Susan Jaffe
We are particularly delighted to see one of Physios Jess Pun alongside two ENBS students featured within the Strength & Stability session, a reflection of the School’s commitment to healthy, sustainable training practices.
The pre-recorded sessions have been integrated into our on-demand lecture programme, allowing students to engage directly with these important technical concepts alongside faculty and staff.
Did you know around 60% of your turnout comes from the hip? ENBS Phsyiotherapist Jess Pun busts some of the common myths around turnout, details the body parts that actually matter and gives tips on how to improve your turnout safely. Watch here!
Turnout is just one of the important topics explored in Mobility and Flexibility in Youth Dancers 2026.
Alongside leading international institutions including American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, Canada’s National Ballet School, Royal Danish Ballet School and Zurich University of the Arts, English National Ballet School was proud to contribute to this global initiative supporting youth dancer health and wellbeing.
These educational resources explore mobility, flexibility, strength, hypermobility and injury prevention, helping support healthier and more sustainable training for young dancers around the world.
