English National Ballet School gives an exclusive performance at Royal Festival Hall

Today’s dancers have to be more versatile than ever and in the School’s performance on Sunday 6 July 2008 at the Royal Festival Hall students from the first, second and third years demonstrate the breadth of their training.  The programme features ballets by Petipa, Ashton, MacMillan and contemporary work.

In an extract from Frederick Ashton’s The Dream the proud Titania dances with her fairies, led by Peaseblossom, Mustardseed, Cobweb and Moth.  Elite Syncopations is MacMillan at his most joyful, the dancers in a witty celebration of Scott Joplin’s famous Ragtime tunes.  Swan Lake Act II and Raymonda give the dancers the chance to show their classical credentials and the programme is completed with a new contemporary dance piece resulting form the School’s unique partnership with Random Dance.
