ENBS Graduate Laurretta Summerscales Promotion

English National Ballet School graduate Laurretta Summerscales has been promoted to Principal at English National Ballet. Following her training with us, Laurretta graduated to the company in 2009 where she has performed in a number of Principal roles including Swanilda in Coppelia, Odette / Odile in Swan Lake, Clara in The Nutcracker and Medora in Le Corsaire. In Autumn 2015, she made her debut as Juliet in Rudolf Nureyev’s Romeo & Juliet. In the final performance of the recent run of Le Corsaire Laurretta performed the lead role and at the end of the show, as all the company were taking their bows, Tamara Rojo, Artistic Director of English National Ballet, joined them on stage to announce that Laurretta Summerscales was promoted to Principal

“Laurretta is such a special dancer”, said Tamara Rojo. “Her classical technique, her musicality and her emotional, theatrical instinct make her a stage animal! I have no doubt that she will be a Principal dancer with an international reputation.”

Congratulations to Laurretta.
