Tax Efficient Giving & Legacies
Tax Efficient Giving
There are a variety of ways for you to ensure that the English National Ballet School maximises your gift in support of our work.
If you are a UK taxpayer then you can Gift Aid your donations to The Place. Gift Aid allows us to reclaim an extra 25p in tax from the Inland Revenue for every £1 you donate at no additional cost to yourself. To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in income tax or capital gains tax must be at least equal to the amount we will claim in tax each year. Tick the Gift Aid box on the Gift Aid donation form and we will do the rest. Alternatively, you can complete a separate Gift Aid declaration form which will allow us to claim Gift Aid on all your future donations.
A gift to the English National Ballet School in your will is not subject to inheritance tax. The current inheritance tax threshold is £325,000; anything above this is liable to tax at 40%. Once you have taken care of your family and loved ones in your will, please consider leaving a legacy to support the future of ballet. Making a will is relatively easy and if you have already made a will, a charitable legacy can be added by making a simple amendment called a Codicil.
From Fri 6 April 2012, if you leave a legacy of more than 10% of your net estates value to charity, you will receive a reduction in the rate of Inheritance Tax you are liable to pay e.g. 36% instead of the usual 40% on the remainder of your estate.
We welcome legacies from anyone who would like to convey their love of ballet in their will. If you would like to remember the English National Ballet School in your will, please contact our Development Office.
Share giving is one of the most tax efficient ways to give. Individual donors can obtain income tax relief and avoid paying capital gains tax. If you would like to know more about the options, please contact our Development Office.
Giving from the United States - Donors from the United States are able to make tax efficient donations using CAF America, a US 501(c) (3) public charity. By donating through CAF America you can ask for your gift to be passed to the English National Ballet School and be assured that your donation is tax deductable to the extent allowed by law. Follow this link to make a gift through CAF America.
