Information
English National Ballet School accepts students between 16 and 19 years of age. Entry is by audition and students are selected on the basis of talent and potential.
If you have a preferred date for audition, you may indicate this at the top of the application form. We will try to accommodate your choice but this will not always be possible as spaces will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. We aim to give the best audition experience possible, but each year we receive a large amount of applications. Please take the following advice when applying for an audition.
Your application should arrive as early as possible and no later than two weeks before the audition date you have requested. We may not be able to consider UK applications received after 4 February 2012. due to space constraints and you may not be awarded the audition date of your choice if it is oversubscribed.
Overseas students wishing to audition in person at ENBS should submit their application form to be received by 3 March 2012. DVD/Video applications need to be received by 25 February 2012 so they can be considered for a preliminary audition; those selected will be assessed alongside personal applicants at the final audition on 17 March 2012.
The preliminary audition consists of a standard ballet class of up to two hours, to include pointe work for girls. The final audition class is set at a higher standard.
Fees
Tuition fees for 2011/12 were £ 16,000. This is expected to rise for 2012/13.
EU Students
ENBS is a Dance and Drama Awards provider. Each year we receive a number of awards from the Young People's Learning Agency which we distribute to the most talented students from the EU. These are
normally awarded to students starting in the first year and may on occasion be
available to a student joining us for a second or third year.
For the academic year 2010/11 students receiving a DaDA will be required to pay a contribution of £1,275 a year.
Further details are available on www.direct.gov.uk/danceanddrama
There is additional means tested support available to EU students from the Income Assessed Student Support Fund.
NON EU Students
The School has a limited number of scholarships and bursaries available to EU and non EU students which are awarded on a combination of ability and parental income.
DaDA
The Dance and Drama Awards (DaDA) are Scholarships funded by the Young People's Learning Agency. They are awarded by Schools to the students who display the most potential to succeed in the profession.
Only students taking an approved Trinity College London qualification will be eligible to apply for an Award. These courses last between one and three years and are at National Diploma or National Certificate level.
Awards offer greatly reduced tuition fees and access to an income-assessed student support fund.

Dance & Drama Awards Funding News - January 2012
The Department for Education has been working with colleagues in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), Young People's Learning Agency (YPLA) and Skills Funding Agency (The Agency) to consider a long term solution to providing support for the most talented young people and adults to access specialist dance and drama provision in the UK.
In December 2011 the Departments concerned reported that they need further time to consider the options and that they have therefore decided to postpone the implementation of the new arrangements to commence in September 2013 rather than September 2012 as was anticipated.
The DaDA scheme will therefore be supported for a further final transitional year in 2012/13. This means that students showing exceptional talent during the autumn 2011 audition period and who start courses in September 2012 will continue to be offered awards under the DaDA scheme and will be funded to the end of their courses.
This will be the final transitional year before a long term solution is implemented.
